“Breathe” Art Exhibit

August 21 – September 2014

 at Intencions Gallery ~ 160 W. Broadway, Jackson

Featuring the works of

Laura E. Garrard, Erin Ashlee Smith & David Bowers

Attend Sarah Kline’s Kundalini Yoga Course, September 13, 12:30-2:30 p.m.,

and visit Erin and Laura while they paint live, also this Saturday, beginning 2:30 p.m.

The opening evening also features: vibrational healing music by Nancy Alfs; crystal sound bowl experience by Daniela Botur; dance concert by Margaret Rose Breffeilh and Melissa Young of Independent Dance Makers; poetry readings by Laura E. Garrard; Dragon Lady Tea and wine bar, and more.

Laura E. Garrard‘s series includes abstract and illustrative acrylic and mixed media works inspired by her creative writing, poetry, and composition. The pieces of writing themselves are also featured in collage or print.  Themes include unconditional love, letting go of fear, the celebration of spring, following your heart, the adoration of dogs, and the ethical example set by elephants. In this series, Garrard explores emotional expressions that seamlessly intertwine spirituality, nature, animals, and humankind.

Erin Ashlee Smith‘s work explores the use of sacred images with emotion-evoking colors. Her intention is to generate a positive energy through the use symbols and colors and soothe the viewer’s mind. A calm mind is receptive to the meditation process. In this series, she strives to break through to the deeper levels of our minds and to inspire, illuminate, and lift the human spirit.

Photographer David Bowers‘ work focuses on creative and dynamic moments of time, with emphasis in individual portraiture. In “Breathe” he will exhibit photographs taken of local yoga practitioners. His photography aims to draw out the underlying uniqueness, character, and beauty of people and their environments. In this series, he hopes to provoke thought, instill inspiration, emphasize appreciation, or simply spur a chuckle and a grin.
